Bianca Cuevas-Moore played the 10th most minutes of any of her New York Liberty teammates on Thursday night, but she made them count.
In her WNBA preseason debut, the South Carolina alumna had four points, four rebounds (three defensive, one offensive), three assists and a steal in 12:38. She made her only shot from the field and two of four free-throws.
There were about 60 Gamecock fans in attendance, according to Fansided.
“I’m happy I have the support. I was really excited,” Cuevas-Moore told High Post Hoops. “You know, I’m back home. I felt like I was back home at South Carolina.
“I just wanted to go out there and try my best and leave it all out there on the floor and not take anything for granted.”
The Liberty beat the Chinese national team 89-71 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, an arena about 10 miles from Cuevas-Moore’s childhood home in the Bronx.
Cuevas-Moore said she has been taken under the wing of Liberty guard Tanisha Wright, a 13-year WNBA veteran, and that she’s “getting better and better” every day.
Cuevas-Moore is one of eight guards on the Liberty’s 14-player preseason roster.
