Gamecocks lose freshman guard for rest of season

South Carolina freshman guard T.J. Moss will miss the rest of the season after having surgery on his ankle. 

Moss, a 6-2 point guard from Memphis, had missed the last four games with a high-ankle sprain. He will take a medical redshirt, head coach Frank Martin said Thursday. 

Moss, who battled a foot injury at the start of the season, was averaging 6.3 points in 20 minutes a game in the seven games he played. 

Kotsar finally delivers

The Gamecocks have battled injuries all season. Starting forward Justin Minaya has missed the past eight games with a knee injury, while freshman forward Alanzo Frink has missed seven games with knee and ankle injuries.

With freshman Jermaine Couisnard academically ineligble, the Gamecocks have just three healty guards in Hassani Gravett, A.J. Lawson and Tre Campbell.  

South Carolina, 7-7, return to action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Missouri at Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks are 2-0 in SEC play.
