It was not a good weekend to be a South Carolina defensive back. Not only did the unit allow 379 yards passing against Ole Miss, but it lost two key members to season-ending injuries.

Safety/cornerback Jamyest Williams (shoulder) and safety Javon Charleston (foot) both suffered season-ending injuries against the Rebels, Will Muschamp told reporters on Sunday night. Both will have surgery this week.

Others that suffered injuries in the 48-44 victory — Rico Dowdle (ankle), Ty’Son Williams (hand), Malik Young, Aaron Sterling, R.J. Roderick and A.J. Turner — are day-to-day.

Defensive backs J.T. Ibe and Nick Harvey will miss this coming Saturday’s game against Florida.
