Jake Bentley will return to South Carolina for his senior season, he announced on Twitter on Friday afternoon. Bentley had the option to enter the NFL Draft.
The South Carolina quarterback owns a 19-13 record as a starter for the Gamecocks, which includes a 10-7 mark in the SEC. He has completed 610 of 973 passes (62.6 percent) of his passes for 7,385 yards and 54 touchdowns. He had 30 interceptions.
In 2018 he completed 240 of 389 passes (61.6 percent) of his passes for 3,171 yards and 27 touchdowns. The touchdown clip put him second in the SEC in the category and 14th in the FBS entering bowl games. It was just two shy of tying the school’s single-season record, set by Steve Tanneyhill in 1995.
He also became the fourth player in SC history to throw for over 7,000 yards in a career.
