Jake Bentley will have surgery this week on his broken foot and miss the rest of the season, head coach Will Muschamp confirmed Sunday.
Bentley suffered a Lisfranc injury on his right foot on the final play of the season-opening loss to North Carolina. An MRI confirmed the injury last Sunday and Bentley got a second opinion on Friday.
Bentley missed Saturday's home opener against Charleston Southern as true freshman Ryan Hilinski took over and led South Carolina to a 72-10 win.
Muschamp said he has not talked to Bentley about his future or whether he will redshirt and return next season.
"Right now is a very difficult time," he said.
